Have you ever heard of abundatrade.com?  I had not until very recently.  It is a site where you can trade in used CD’s, DVD’s / Games and books for other items or CASH!

They have a value estimator on their website where you can enter in the ISBN or UPC of your items and they will tell you how much they will pay you for it – in cash/trade value.

This is JUST what I needed to get me going today…the promise of extra money AND the ability to get rid of a few more items!

I went through our house and rounded up a few books/DVD’s and got to work entering them on abundatrade.com…my trade value should be about $64!! I am mailing off 3 book s and 17 DVD’s today!

I am also donating an extra 8 books to goodwill today.

Total items purged today:  28

YTD total number of items purged: 107

Sold!

So in my quest to eliminate items from my home, and become debt free, I have been selling and donating lots of items.

Recently leaving my house as donated items:

Snapping cloth “paper towels” and pvc pipe “roll”

acrylic diaper cover

wool diaper cover

diaper with missing snap

potpourri gift set thingy

3/4 unused package of disposable pads

3 gerber diaper covers

I swear someone sneaks into my house in the middle of the night and leave clutter behind!  I feel like I am constantly donating/selling/tossing things we no longer need or that no longer work, and yet there is ALWAYS more.

So to add to my goal of eliminating 2,010 items in 2010  the following is leaving my house

donating to salvation army:

plastic slotted spoon, banana keeper (dont ask), plastic lei, avocado slicer, 2 jar openers, small stuffer bear

Giving to my friend:

8 infant sleepers, 4 infant shirts, 2 infant blankets, 4 bottles,  one boppy pillow cover

throwing away

3 stained (beyond  recognition) infant onsies

Total: 29 items leaving my house

Thats 19 more things gone!

Master Bedroom

Posted in Elimination challenge 2010 by mylifein2010 on November 23, 2009

The master bedroom in my house serves MANY functions.  Its a bedroom (obviously), workshop for Bare Naked Cleaners, a nursery (complete with crib and changing station, my craft room, and part storage room.

It is really hard to keep organized because of all the functions it serves.  Saturday, while Pete took the kids to my IL’s, I was able to really get in there and clean and organize. I came up with a full garbage bag to donate and rearranges/reorganized the rest!

I am still working on figuring out storage solutions, but its a start!

total number of items decluttered – 22

total number of items since i started the 2,010 items in 2010 challenge – 59

Elimination Challenge 2010

Posted in Elimination challenge 2010 by mylifein2010 on November 18, 2009

I HATE clutter.  I hate looking at clutter.  I hate cleaning clutter.  I hate moving clutter from one surface to another.

I am on a mission to get rid of 2,010 items from our home in 2010.  These items can be sold, donated, tossed or gifted (depending on the item and its potential value to me or someone else).

That means I need to eliminate a minimum of 39 items per week.  every week.

I got a head start this am and bagged up two garbage bags full of toys that my kids never touch for a new young mom I know who will appreciate them.  37 items total.
